Berkeley was the most brilliant Christian philosopher of the ‘Age of Reason’, and bishop of Cloyne in Ireland. His major work, Alciphron, shows that ideas rather than things have true existence and that the existence of ideas stems from God. He is buried in St Clement Danes.
