Located on a short street called Bevis Marks near the old Aldgate, this is the oldest synagogue in London (or in all of England, for that matter). It was moved to this location from Creechurch Lane in 1701. Its name may allude to the great exodus of Jews from Spain and Portugal during the Inquisition of 1492 and thereafter.
