Meyer, a graduate of London University and Regents Park Baptist College, while a pastor in York helped to launch the American evangelist D. L. Moody on his British campaigns. Meyer became pastor of Regents Park Church in 1888 and, later, of Christ Church, Westminster Bridge Road. He was a popular preacher in his own pulpits and a frequent speaker at Keswick, Northfield and Portstewart conventions. His devotional studies on biblical characters are still widely read.
