Carlile Wilson (1847-1942)

Carlile’s business was ruined by an economic depression in 1873, which led to his spiritual conversion. He began to minister to the down-andouters of London, showing great skill in presenting the Gospel, and eventually was ordained. As a London pastor, he continued his evangelistic efforts among the poor, using his musical talent with effect in open-air meetings, and in 1882 founded the Church Army, which he led for many years.
